At this time of year, when the holiday spirit moves us to be better human beings, it feels really good to DO something really good for our local community! On Friday, December 4th, Satellite Lane partnered up with the incredible musicians of East Broadway Elementary School to collect food for the Helping Hangs Food Pantry in Huntington Station. The admission into our benefit concert was a canned good and, thanks to a tremendous turn out, Melanie was barely able to stuff her car with the TEN bags of donations! "This is a great charity. These donations will go directly to people in need," said Melanie (our alto and the mastermind behind this terrific event).
The show started out with Seaford High School's a cappella group who wowed us with holiday cheer, singing Little Drummer Boy and Carol of the Bells. They sounded tight and polished!
Satellite Lane performed next and it felt great to be back on the stage again after our summer break. This was the debut performance for our newest member, Rachel Karmel, who brought down the house with her rendition of Let it Go from Frozen. Andy and Evan were also given a chance to shine with their first ever Satellite Lane solos: Suddenly Semour and Shut Up and Dance, respectively. Thank you to all of the East Broadway kids who got up to Nae Nae with us!
But the real stars of the show were the East Broadway Chorus who performed last! Singing holiday classics with tenderness, these talented fourth grade singers brought warmth and spirit to our night as only innocent children's voices can. Congratulations kids on an outstnading performance!
Special thanks goes to Mrs. Wink, the prinicpal of East Broadway Elementary, who coordinated the entire night.
